Join us for a charitable event that aims to raise funds for non-profit organisations and promote health and wellness to the public.
 

On May 6th, 2023, head over to Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) and embark on a 5km neon-themed route that features exciting attractions to keep you pumped throughout the entire run! But that's not all. In addition to the exciting 5km neon-themed night run, the APU Neon Run 2023 also features a carnival atmosphere that will surely keep you entertained throughout the event. There will be live performances, games, and other attractions to add to the festive atmosphere. So, not only will you get to experience an electrifying night run, but you'll also get to enjoy the carnival activities and performances! Beneficiaries

SPCA

SPCA is a well-respected integrated animal welfare organisation established in 1958 that is registered with the Registrar of Societies. It is a non-profit organisation with the aim of promoting kindness and compassion towards all animals with the aim of alleviating cruelty and reducing suffering. Since 2014 the organisation has helped over 2,650 animals find new homes with the number growing every day.


Apart from that SPCA also organises campaigns which are dedicated to animal welfare with some being Stray Free Selangor (SFS), Caring and Compassionate Communities (CCC) and Farm Animal Welfare Program.


The 6 pillars of SPCA are Shelter and adoption, Spay/neuter services, Education, Investigation of animal abuse, Assistance to caregivers, and lobbying the government and with a new pillar was added in 2020 to promote farm animal welfare.

 

 

Furrykids Safehaven

Furrykids Safehaven is a non-profit organisation that focuses on providing a better life for all strays in Seremban.


Over the years, they have rescued and taken care of 1,800 dogs on their premises. The local government authorities approached the organisation for help with the reallocation of dogs caught by contracted dog catchers. During that time, the stray population was getting out of control and the authorities agreed to provide land and shelter built with the help of sponsors which sadly not all have materialised.


The NGO is fully dependent on donations from the public to maintain the upkeep of rescued strays and is very much focused on neutering the strays on the streets.

 

 

Rumah Kasih

Rumah Kasih is an NGO that offers free shelter, food and medical treatment for the discharged poor, homeless, old and terminally ill abandoned patients such as diabetics without limbs, patients disowned by their children, patients whose families can’t be traced, accident victims and so on.


Since the year 2000 the organisation has taken in more than 530 patients with more coming in, they also offer hospital services, arrange decent and respectable funeral services, work with government and private hospitals and so much more.

 

 
Agathians Shelter, PJ

Agathians Shelter is another NGO that is based in Petaling Jaya (PJ), they are a welfare home that takes in orphans, abandoned or from broken families with the age ranging between 5 to 20 year old.


Their mission is to save the children off the streets and to fulfil all the essential needs in every kid’s life such as shelter, food, education, care, attention, and love.

We are a group of students from the Student Affairs Department of Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU). Our mission is to help anyone in need, we have managed this for the past few years by working with various charitable causes including animal shelters, orphanages, and homes for the elderly. We believe that even the smallest efforts can make a significant impact, and we are committed to finding opportunities to make a positive difference in the world. Through hosting fundraising events, we hope to bring communities together and inspire others to join us in our pursuit of a better tomorrow.

Guidelines

  • Clothing: Make sure to wear the official event tee or to wear reflective clothing if you choose to not wear the official event tee
     
  • Stay hydrated: Participants should drink plenty of water before, during and after the run, each checkpoint will provide drinks along the route
     
  • Follow the route: Participants should follow the designated route and avoid shortcuts to ensure the safety and safety of others
     
  • Be aware of surroundings: Watch out for obstacles such as rocks or uneven terrain
     
  • Respect: Participants should respect other runners and avoid bumping into or obstructing other runners on the route
     
  • Footwear: Participants should wear appropriate running shoes
     
  • Stay alert: Participants should stay alert and be aware of any announcements or instructions from event staff
     
  • Have Fun!: Neon Run is a unique and exciting event so make sure to obey all the rules and have fun! Enjoy the experience and remember to spread positive energy!

Q1: What is APU Neon Run 2023?
A1: APU Neon Run 2023 is a fundraising fun run with the theme of neon and music which will be opening to both APU and the public community.

 

Q2: How long is the route?
A2: The length of the route is 5 km.

 

Q3: Is APU Neon Run organised for charity or profit?
A3: The APU Neon Run is held for charity and we initiated it to raise funds for our beneficiaries, including the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Rumah Kasih, Furrykids Safehaven and Agathians Shelter.

 

Q4: Who can join this event?
A4: Anyone who is legally residing in Malaysia is welcome to join!

 

Q5: What are General Admission and Student Admission?
A5: General Admission is open for registration from the public community, while Student Admissions is for students, including those aged 18 years or below and students in higher education institutes with valid student cards.

 

Q6: Can I register on the event day itself?
A6: No, the registration closes on 11th April 2023 at 11:59:59 p.m., or if the admission tickets are fully sold out, whichever comes first.

 

Q7: Where and when could I collect my race kit?
A7: The details of the race kit collection will be announced through our official website.

 

Q8: If I am not able to collect my race kit, what could I do?
A8: Someone you know, such as a friend or family member, can collect your race kit on your behalf as long as they are able to provide your registration confirmation and identification information.

 

Q9: Is there any parking or bus shuttle provided?
A9: Yes, both of them will be provided. Free parking will be provided in front of APU, on a first come first serve basis. Meanwhile, bus shuttles will be provided to/from the LRT Bukit Jalil Station.

 

Q10: Is stopping to walk fine?
A10: Yes, it is perfectly fine to stop and walk during the run but do not obstruct the course. It is more about having fun and enjoying the experience than finishing the run quickly.

 

Q11: Is there any baggage check-in service provided?
A11: No, there is no baggage check-in service provided. Participants are responsible for keeping custody of their belongings.

 

Q12: Who do I contact if I have more questions or concerns about the event?

Q13: What do I do if I entered the wrong information during registration?
